Guy Archerd has been a guitarist since the age of eight, when in 1966, his grandparents gave him his first guitar for Christmas. His aunts provided guitar lessons at Post Oak Music store in Houston, Texas.
Though he doesn't remember to many details, of those early lessons, the guitar has stayed with him for life. Around 18, Guy began playing professionally, performing at public dances in Texas dance halls and touring up and down the Gulf Coast playing bars and clubs with numerous cover bands.
After leaving Texas, Guy eventually settled in Iowa, started performing again and became a serious part of the Iowa City collage music scene. Guy formed "Festy Fenton and The Fret Fanatics ". A successful working band that toured around Cedar Rapids and southeastern Iowa.
In 1996, Guy moved to Northern California and discovered a very different musical landscape. Guy formed all Native American group, "Triple Bypass", an all-original music, Southern rock blues power trio. The band toured all over Northern California, including Redding, down to Sacramento.
Triple Bypass entered a statewide battle of the bands and finished in the top 50 among countless entries. They were interviewed and their music was played on NPR in Redding California.
Eventually, changes in the live music scene, venue closures, and the challenges of keeping a full band led Guy to focus more on solo performances. Guy has performed at numerous different festivals, farmers markets, art shows, charitable benefit concerts.
Guy has developed a smooth lounge-style act with his guitars, and custom recorded backing tracks.
Over time, Guy quit chasing live venues and spends his time composing and songwriting. Today, Guy continues to write, record and produce his music and videos through Gnote Media Group, collaborating with artist and performers worldwide. His current project is the "On Time Blues Ensemble".
With more than 25 years as an ASCAP member, and with distribution across all the major platforms, Guy continues to create the music he loves.
From the Texas dance halls to the Iowa college bars, all the way west to Northern California, Guy's journey has always brought him back to playing guitars and creating music that will leave you touched...
